Sunday Song Lyric:
To celebrate Halloween, Bruce Springsteen posted a free download of a new song, "A Night with the Jersey Devil" on his website. The song release is being offered in lieu of Springsteen's annual Halloween display, which he and his wife canceled. You can see the song here or read the lyrics here. They begin:
Hear me now!
I was born 13th child, 'neath the 13th moon
Spit out hungry and born anew
Daddy drag me to the river tie me in rocks
Throw me in where it's deep and wide
I go down, I don't die
Hole in the river bottom, I crawl through
Come back kill six brothers and sisters, kill papa too
Sway down Mama, sway down low
They gonna know me wherever I go
It's a good bluesy song for Halloween, but it's hardly one of Springsteen's best, musically or lyrically.

Bruce (I call him Bruce) nixed the display due to it's carbon imprint, and is redistributing the song to all the guys behind him so they'll have the same chance as everyone else.

Springsteen is the most over rated act in the history of music. A Mellencamp want-a-be.

Springsteen is far more talented than Mellencamp. I don't know how anyone could think otherwise. Born to Run, Nebraska - what has Mellencamp recorded that is anywhere close to those albums? The answer is nothing. That said, Springsteen has recorded almost nothing but unlistenable, self-indulgent crapola for 15 or so years now. Ghost of Tom Joad? Just about as bad an album as I have ever heard; and I bought Night Ranger's first effort back in the eighties.

I've seen a LOT of dumb posts on this site, but this one easily takes the prize for the worst ever.

Mellencamp started his career as a Springsteen wannabe.

Springsteen has not only recorded some of the greatest and most critically acclaimed rock albums ever, he's also put out a great new album and proves in his live shows he's still got it.
