Reader Poll on The Palin Pick:

Did John McCain make the right decision by picking Sarah Palin as his runningmate?
Yes, absolutely.
Probably.
Probably not.
Absolutely not.
Too early to know.

Why does every online polling site seem to cause a million popups and alert my company's websense filters?

This poll could serve as a stand in for a poll about the political leanings of the readers of this blog. In the context of an election, objective views regarding a candidate's VP choice are hard to come by.

Great pick. It's the one thing that could make me actually vote for him.

Loophole1998 - Possibly true in this case, but not if a number of the other rumors had come true.

If he'd chosen...

Lieberman? Probably Not.
Clinton? Absolutely Not.
Pawlenty? Too Early To Tell. (Wake me when the two boring white guys do something interesting).
Thompson? Too Early To Tell. But on the plus side, their remake of Grumpier Old Men would make a fair amount of money.
KBH? Probably Not. It would allow them to check the box, but that's about it.
Romney? Probably.

Interesting trend right here in this poll today. It started out with a lot of 'probably ' or 'don't know', by has move now to solid 'Yes ! Right pick !' as the readers here find out a little more about her.

Watch for the same kind of move in the national polls over the next few weeks, as older polls fall of the averages, and Blobama's miniscule-to-begin-with convention bounce fades out.

This is a poorly worded poll.

I think you want to know what I think of Palin, would she make a good VP, and do I think more or less of McCain based on this choice.

But you've asked if I think McCain made the "right decision." I want Obama to win, so I think this is a brilliant decision. Palin is a horrible candidate, and McCain comes off poorly for choosing her. Which thrills me to no end.

Jeff,

I spent some time on the wording before writing the poll, thinking about exactly the issues you mention. I think I picked the best wording, actually. (Although it is 100% certain every time a poll is offered that some objection to the wording will be made.)

Sarah Palin's profile, personality, youth and husband remind me an awful lot of that great American hero Marge Gunderson.

Well, I live in Chicago. No way I'd vote for Obama, but since I figure the Daley machine will steal every vote possible for Obama, Illinois is as blue as can be, and since the Republican party is almost as corrupt as the Democratic party here, I figured I'd just stay home on election day, even though I am okay with McCain.

But I'll go vote for him now. Palin makes a difference.

A few months ago, she was even more reminiscent of Gunderson.

Did John McCain make the right decision by picking Sarah Palin as his runningmate?

For his political benefit? -- Probably.

For the country's benefit? -- Probably not.

For Hoosier's benefit? -- Absofrigginlutely.
