Palin and the Press:

From CBSNews.com:

the candidate who has been criticized for having a bunker mentality when it came to the national media can now lay legitimate claim to being more accessible than either Joe Biden or Barack Obama.

In the past two days alone, Palin has answered questions from her national press corps on three separate occasions. On Saturday, she held another plane availability, and on Sunday, she offered an impromptu press conference on the tarmac upon landing in Colorado Springs. A few minutes later, she answered even more questions from reporters during an off-the-record stop at a local ice cream shop.

By contrast, Biden hasn't held a press conference in more than a month, and Obama hasn't taken questions from his full traveling press corps since the end of September. John McCain—who spent most of the primary season holding what seemed like one, never-ending media availability—hasn't done one since Sept. 23.

Sure. "Being accessible" is a current temporal state, having no relationship to "has (or has not) been accessible in the past." The distracting cruft in the article is irrelevant to an evaluation of the reasoning the author exhibits.
.
Biden and Obama can lay claim to being more accessible, now, by being more accessible, now.

It makes no difference. The media won't report on anything about the Obama campaign without its prior approval anyway. They've shown more interest in investigating Joe the plumber than The One.

It's all McCain's fault because he failed to vet anyone who might be playing football in his yard when Obama might approach for a photo op and embarrass himself in response to impromptu questioning.

Joe the Gaffer answer questions from the press? Do you seriously think that the Obama Campaign is willing to let someone make unscripted remarks when in prepared speeches he says gems like:

it's about a three letter word, jobs -- J-O-B-S!

Someone might ask him to spell "Potato".

DangerMouse:
Gee, Adler. I wonder if Palin was "pouting" when she answered those questions. You might want to look into that, so the next time you eat brie with your collegues you can discuss it with them.

I hope we all complain about how much we're talking about Joe the Plumber more, as well! Take that Obama-controled MSM!

It was clearly a Rove-ian plot that caused Obama to walk up to the guy and start chatting with him. That plumber guy is such an obvious plant that he probably eats miracle grow. Typical Republican hit job setup. Besides, this election is about two critical issues: is Joe the Plumber licensed as opposed to working for a licensed plumbing firm, and when will Sarah Palin consent to a DNA test to prove that she actually is Trig's mother?

Any effort to distract us from these critical inquiries is just Republican fear-mongering, hate-mongering, divisiveness-mongering, or any other kind of mongering that the Republicans can manage to monger up. It's the result of 8 years of failed Bush policies, and more of what we'll see from a Mc-what'shisname Administration. And it's probably racist to boot, since "a," "and," and "the" are categorically racist terms when uttered by a Republican. Now is the time for apocalyptic rhetoric directed at Republicans! If not now, when? If not here, where?

Doesn't walking down the street taking random questions from random voters while the camera is on you count as being accessible, or are you only accessible when you take questions from the press?

Perfectly understandable for any long-time newspaper reader:

WORD GAME

RULES OF THE GAME: 1. Words must be of four or more letters. 2. Words that acquire four letters by the addition of "s," such as "bats" or "dies" are not allowed.

"Jobs" does not meet this time-honored four letter criterion, and remains a three-letter word.

The most startling thing about this campaign is the way the press was able to find out more about Joe the Plumber in 48 hours than they found out about Obama in two years. And Joe hasn't written an autobiography. Not even one!

Aboslutely! To claim that the GOP candidate for VP has been inaccessible when she's ben taking questions in the last two days (about three weeks before the election) is terrible!

that makes Biden have at least 1 more press conference than Palin.

Hell, Plumber Joe has had more press conferences than Palin. Absolutely Sickening.

Oh yes, Sarcastro, we've heard so much about Obama. How wonderful he is. How post racial. He's for change! And Hope! And he's so smart. Evidence? Well...

We know all about Bristol Palin's fiance (husband?). Wouldn't it be nice if Obama could name one friend from college beside his roommate. I mean, here's a really gregarious guy - friendly, charismatic. And yet, he doesn't remember anyone, and nobody remembers him. Has there ever been a more transparent lie? Who knows, maybe his friends were all stoners, which is a bit politically embarrassing (not much, actually, for a guy who's already admitted doing coke). Or maybe not. Maybe they the "radicals" you see on most campuses. That's something I'd consider a bit more important than Bristol Palin's pregnancy.

Then there was that Ayers guy he "crossed paths with", you know, a "guy from the neighborhood". Pretty hard not to cross paths with a guy who works in the same office building, on the same floor, for three years. Who babysat your kids and launched your political career. Clearly he's lying about the extent of Ayers's influence on his life. But nobody from, say, the NYT seems to be interested enough to dig a bit.

You could make the argument the press corps just doesn't have the resources to actually do anything besides credulously copying down what the man says. But they sure managed to find out about Joe the Plumbers back taxes, and his lack of a plumbing license.

If Obama actually went to college, why won't he release his PSAT scores?

Oh, I'm pretty sure he went to college at the colleges he claims. I just don't believe he didn't have any friends.
