Ilya Somin, Our New Conspirator:

I'm delighted to report that Ilya Somin, who guest-blogged here a few weeks ago, has agreed to join the Conspiracy outright. Ilya teaches at George Mason University School of Law, where his research focuses on federalism, the Takings Clause, and the implications of popular political participation on constitutional democracy. See here for his list of publications, if you'd like to learn more.

Before going into teaching, Ilya clerked for Judge Jerry Smith of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. And, as I mentioned before, he's also a member of the Not-Vast-or-Even-Nearly-Infinite-But-Getting-Bigger Legal Academic Russkie Conspiracy. Welcome, Ilya!

Welcome, Prof. Somin. An excellent addition.

So, does this mean the Russian Mob will be getting free legal advice in the US? (Consider it a joke)

Any way, congrats. His posts were quite nice.

The more the merrier! Sometimes I need something intellectually stimulating and there hasn't been a post here for maybe an hour and a half and I've read all the comments and it's too early to go to bed but Instapundit's already turned in...
By the way the fellow who though Ilya was a woman's name a few days ago obviously missed all the episodes of Man from U.N.C.L.E.

Ahh wonderful, I liked having such an openly non-religious conspirator posting.

Welcome Ilya Somin!
There is no question in my mind that you will easily meet the high expectations you generated during your guest tenure at the VC.
To you, Eugene Volokh and all others knowledgeable, I have a request. Could you post a few things, as they appear to you, on the present Russia? In particular I'm puzzled to detect where Russia is being led, what is the influence of it's population on policy, how are average citizens faring? I realize it is an enormous country and being tugged many different ways, but surely some generalisations can be made?
