Via Joe Malchow, William Safire's "On Language" column today is on "Blargon,"the jargon of the blogosphere.

Whoops, I see Orin was also linking to Safire at the same time I was. Does Safire have a term for when two of us post on the same thing at the same time?

whoever says "blinx" first gets a Coke from the other one.

safire undercredits the phrase "meme" - it has a much more annoying use in the blogosphere than he gives it credit for.

Some might say "more proof that the political [left/right] part of the blogosphere is just an echo chamber."

In my humble opinion, he uses too narrow of a definition for the word "meme" as well. I wish he had at least looked it up and credited Dawkins. Certainly the online chain letters and surveys apply, but it's much more than that.

After returning from a hard day's work I often blogitate from top to bottom (chronologically backwards). However, I haven't come up with a good name for that process. Any suggestions?

Egon: Don't cross the streams.
Venkman: Why?
Egon: It would be bad.
Venkman: I'm fuzzy on the whole good-bad thing. Whattya mean "bad?"
Egon: Try to imagine all life as you know it stopping instantaneously and every molecule in your body exploding at the speed of light.
Ray: Total protonic reversal....
Venkman: Right, that's bad...OK.. important safety tip. Thanks, Egon.
