The Volokh Conspiracy - In the Shadow of the Law:

I recently finished Kermit Roosevelt's novel "In the Shadow of the Law," and I recommend it. I don't read a lot of novels, but I thought it was a very good read; it was both entertaining and thought-provoking. Hard to believe it was written by a law professor, though, as the writing was pretty crisp and there weren't any footnotes.
