Profile of SCOTUS Prospects on Hot Button Issues:

The Legal Times has an informative story digging into some of the cases decided by several of the Circuit Judges thought to be on the "short list." (The link is in the Law.com newswire in the little box to the right under "Who Do Conservatives Want for the High Court?").

The article didn't mention it, but Judge Luttig crafted a tremendous opinion in the 1997 case of Rice v. Paladin Press, a case involving free speech that interpreted the Brandenburg test. Very relevant to how he might approach free speech in an age of terrorism. The case was turned into a made-for-TV movie (on FX) starring Timothy Hutton, and some commentators have suggested Luttig's approach to the case may have been influenced by the murder of Luttig's father in a carjacking. Definitely worth a read,
